A Big Jump in Bookings for India Flight Tickets!

With the short work week last week, there was a big increase in India flight bookings with most people getting into their fall routines.  While there was a large number of bookings from Toronto to Delhi and Vancouver to Delhi there continues to be less activity than was thought due to the continuing high prices.  Most airlines continue to do their best to hold their fares high and hope that customers will not end up not getting a cheap India flight.  There is a push-and-pull scenario where the airlines want more tickets at a higher price, but customers are unwilling to pay large amounts.  We are seeing some who have committed to paying a higher price, but others continue to reach out to see if the fares India ticket prices have dropped.  We only have a few weeks to go before the peak India flight season something will change sooner rather than later.

More conversations are happening now with airlines as the days of full flights and high fares are ending.  The expected response of allowing more cheap India flights has been slow.  The airline industry has not been able to grasp that customers need a cheap flight to India or they may not travel.  The pent-up demand that the industry depended on for the last two years has now gone out of the system and customers are demanding lower prices on their Canada to India flights in order to make a commitment.  While cheap flight prices to India are available, it is taking more research to find the best deals and with a short amount of time left before fall departures time is running out for the airlines to fill their India flights.

One of the big issues that may impact India flights in the next week to ten days is the chance that Air Canada pilots may go on strike.  Luckily this potential strike on Air Canada is not during the peak travel season for India, but some passengers will be affected if it goes ahead.  More likely Air Canada’s partner airlines Lufthansa and United will be able to help the majority of passengers, but there might be a few who are forced to significantly change their India travel plans.

Passengers departing from Toronto to Delhi who love the Air Canada brand are in luck as this fall you can find prices as low as $1990 on the direct service from Toronto to New Delhi.  The large decrease in the price that Air Canada is offering on these flights is in response to Air India starting a double daily service from Toronto, this massive increase in competition has forced a response from Air Canada allowing you to get a cheap India flight!

With Air Canada’s drop in price, they continue to offer lower fares than Air India’s direct service which will cost $2060 on the same dates.  Air Canada’s attempt to charge a higher price for most of the summer looks to be a failing strategy as Air India is now able to charge a premium with customers looking at Air Canada to get their cheap India flight!

Finally, for those Toronto to Delhi customers who want to secure their India flight at the cheapest possible price Etihad Airways is available for only $1880, which lowest available this fall.  With competition in Toronto fierce there are cheap flights to India to be found!

Passengers departing from Vancouver to Delhi this fall are also looking to find a cheap India flight! With fewer airlines, Seattle has once again become a great option with flights available from $1600, but that does mean you do have to find your own way from Vancouver or Surrey to Seattle.  While we are seeing more passengers try this route most are likely to pay a little bit more and depart from Vancouver where cheap India flights are available.  If you want to fly on the direct Air India flight this fall it is available from $2850 while if you want to save some money Cathay Pacific will be your best option with prices starting from $2000.

Overall, there seems to be a major push for airlines to keep prices as high as they possibly can, but for the first time in years their price power has been reduced but they continue to keep prices high.  Based on the market pushback and the continued conversations from the airline side we expect prices to come down as the airlines are struggling to fill their aircraft.
