Air India Announces a Brand New Aircraft for Toronto!

In a major announcement that so many have been hoping for in Canada, Air India has finally announced they are bringing a new aircraft to Toronto.  It has been a long time coming with customers frequently having concerns with the quality of the existing plane.  Customers who book a cheap India flight this Fall from Toronto to Delhi will no longer have those concerns.

Starting on August 1st, 2026, Air India will bring a brand-new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner to Toronto. This new aircraft will feature all new product in business class and economy, and for the first time ever, there will be Premium Economy seats available from Toronto to Delhi on India’s national carriers.

Canadians have been patiently waiting for years for their turn for new aircraft.  Toronto will finally be receiving something that will be able to compete with Air Canada and many of the Middle Eastern carriers who pride themselves on updated product.  The competition will be fierce, and other airlines may have to improve on their offerings to continue to match this new plane.

A side effect of this is that bringing a brand-new plane to Toronto is improved efficiency.  Boeing’s Dreamliners offer less fuel burn, which should allow Air India to drop prices, which means cheap India flights for you!

A final piece to the Air India puzzle of bringing new aircraft to Canada is Vancouver.  As Vancouver sits further away and has less competition, we may be waiting a few more months to get a new aircraft, which, when it comes will allow Air India to offer even more cheap India flights.

For those who are planning to travel to Delhi from Toronto, there is only a few weeks left to go in the peak season of travel to India!  Right now, if you want to leave in March and return in April, your best bet to fly will be with the SkyTeam group on a Delta Airlines codeshare connecting via Air France and KLM.  You can find prices on this flight for as low as $1589!

Anyone who only wants the convenience of the direct flight option with Air Canada can get it’s available for $2369, which is a big premium for the best schedule!

Travellers who are departing from Vancouver and going to India, the best option for you right now is to take Air Canada via Montreal on your departure and fly with United Airlines via Newark on the return.  This flight is available for only $1549!

If you are looking to fly with Air India who has the shortest flight from Vancouver to Delhi, you will be paying $2099, which is a substantial premium for the time saved!

A big change is coming to Air India’s service to Canada over the next few months as the new aircraft are finally rolling out and are impacting our flights in a positive way.  For those who will be flying with Air India this fall from Toronto, you will most likely already be on a Dreamliner, hopefully Vancouver is next in line!
