Air India’s Massive Seat Brought Cheap India Flights for a Week!

If you are looking for a cheap flight to India, last week was massive.  Air India announced a short-term seat sale to destinations all over the world including Canada to India.  As demand fell off a cliff during the Pakistan and India skirmish Air India decided it was the right time to get things back on track.  The Air India seat sale did its job with a massive number of bookings for customers securing cheap flights to India for the Spring and Summer and even those customers who were able to decide on Fall flights saved hundreds or sometimes even one thousand dollars over regular prices.  While the seat sale has now expired it proves that those who are ready to book at a moment’s notice and those who plan are able to secure a cheap flight to India!

In addition to the Air India seat sale, there was other news on the direct flights from Vancouver and Toronto with India’s national carrier.  Air India was able to secure Mongolia airspace for the direct flight services to North America.  While Pakistan has continued to keep their airspace closed for another month at least, this workaround provided by Air India has allowed them to fly without having a technical stop to refuel the aircraft.  By not stopping, hours are shaved from the journey on the Vancouver to Delhi direct flight. 

Beyond the Air India changes British Airways is also providing cheap flights to India by announcing a Canada to India seat sale.  The sale will be on for the next two weeks, with limited seats available in the Fall.  Many carriers are being aggressive to secure their share of the Indian market months in advance of when this usually happens.

One final piece of news for India flights from Canada is that Lufthansa has announced they will be providing two free pieces of checked-in luggage for all India flights.  This is a massive change and one that has been requested for years without movement, but now we are seeing a higher level of competitiveness from Germany’s national carrier.  One item of note is that although Air Canada is allied with Lufthansa they are not providing two free bags on their direct flights due to the weight restraints they are facing.

If you want to buy a cheap flight to India from Toronto this week, Air India is your best option as you can buy a ticket for only $1109.  We have not seen prices like this ever before on Air India so now is the time to book.  Seats are going quickly and we don’t expect prices like this to come back again this year so now is the time to book!

For departures from the West Coast of Canada to India, particularly Vancouver, Air India is once again leading the way on price and schedule.  You can find prices as low as $1239 on the direct service from Vancouver to Delhi.  Once again this is well below the prices we have seen in the last 5 years so if you can plan or need to make a last-minute trip to India, book now and secure a cheap India flight!
