Airlines Cut Flight To India Due to High Fuel Prices

Those who are looking to buy a cheap India flight and are travelling in the next few weeks are finding that prices are high due to the increase in fuel prices.  Some people are opting not to travel to India unless it is absolutely necessary, so we are seeing some airlines cut flights, especially where the distances are large.

Air India has decided to cut up to 10% of its flight schedule.  With an older fleet that is less fuel efficient, they have decided it makes more sense to park planes rather than to fly at a loss.  The reduced capacity this summer will put further pressure on prices, but the good news is that there is less demand for travel to India during the summer months, so it will not impact many people.

In other news, Qantas Airlines has also decided to cut its flight to India as the distance travelled from Sydney to Delhi is large, and with higher fuel prices, they were not able to justify it.  The good news is that this will not have an impact on Canada-India travel, as passengers from North America do not travel via Australia.

On a positive note, the Gulf Airlines of Emirates, Etihad and Qatar have all come back to flying their regularly scheduled services, which means capacity to India is similar to what it was before the war started.  If fuel prices drop, we expect prices to come down quickly as everyone will be fighting to keep their flights full, which will mean cheap flights from Canada to India.

With the turmoil that is now occurring in the airline industry, Canadian travellers to India should feel very lucky.  Hopefully, by the time the main period of travel occurs, there will be plenty of cheap India flights available!
