Are you ready to book your flight from Canada to India?  With summer almost halfway done those who have not purchased a ticket to India for this fall and winter are getting very serious about making the right decision.

While everyone wants to get a cheap flight to India, they also are considering the service and schedule they will be getting on such a long trip.  With travellers from all over the world all being restricted for so long there is a significant amount of pent-up demand for travel to India.

Customers from Vancouver, Surrey, Abbotsford, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Brampton, Mississauga, Toronto and Montreal are all booking flights and they are all connecting over the same places.

Most of the India flights from Canada are being booked on the direct service from Air India that departs from Vancouver & Toronto, while some are booking the direct service from Air Canada that departs from Toronto and Montreal.  Other customers are looking for different options such as British Airways to Delhi via London or Singapore Airlines through Singapore, everyone is searching high and low to find the best combination of flights and prices as many are running out of time to make a decision.  One issue that many are running into this year is that if they did not book early, they are having a tough time finding a cheap flight to India.

Some have waited for prices to drop for flights to New Delhi, but that has yet to happen.  As we get closer to the peak travel season for India, customers who hesitated hoping prices from Canada to India would go down are instead dealing with prices much higher than they were hoping to pay.   Those who are still waiting might get lucky, airlines have kept prices high for a long time which may keep some customers from booking at all, but if not enough passengers are booked onto these planes there is always a chance for a last-minute seat sale.  With all that is happening in the industry, it seems more likely that prices will rise even further as too many customers have saved up money for the last three years and are willing to make the financial sacrifice to get back to India this year.

For those looking to depart this fall on flights from Toronto to Delhi, there are many options available, but Air India is the most popular.  Right now, you can find fares on their direct flight that will cost $2250.  If you are looking to save some money fares are available on Emirates in the fall for as low as $2005, while that might seem like a lot of money this is a competitive price for Dubai’s national carrier as in most years they are the most expensive option for the India flights from Toronto.

Passengers looking to buy a cheap India flight from Toronto this year might be seeing some flexibility from the carriers. The higher level of competition from airlines in Eastern Canada should mean lower prices for customers.

Customers of Vancouver have fewer options when looking for a cheap flight to India this year.  Due to the lack of options, most people purchase their tickets on the Air India direct flight.  Some good news this week as we may be seeing demand softening somewhat is that their price has dropped to $2150 in the fall.  In most situations, the direct flight is not the lowest priced option on any route but from Vancouver, this year since the Russian airspace is closed and Air Canada has an extremely high fare Air India is the cheap option to get to Delhi right now.  While this is not a normal situation, this is what the customers from Vancouver are facing.

Overall, as the number of calls has increased significantly over the past few weeks as customers are locking down their cheap flights to India, the airlines are trying their best to keep airfares high.  In the past few days, we may have seen a bit of softening of flight prices as airlines may have realized they are asking too much of an already financially stressed consumer.  With the lack of flight options and higher demand, the airlines might be able to keep prices high, but this all depends on the customers’ willingness to pay high prices or if they will all wait in order to get a cheap flight to India.
