Big Increase in Fall Bookings for India!
Looking to buy a cheap India flight this fall or winter?
Now is the time to book! We have seen a sharp increase in the number of bookings to India in the past few days as customers have decided that waiting for a price drop is a risky idea.
With all of the concerns regarding inflation and lack of airline capacity, many people are locking in their flights for India today, rather than hoping for a seat sale down the road. While customers are paying a higher fare than they did before the pandemic, it seems very likely that fares may rise from this point. The continuation of restrictions in Asia has added to the lack of capacity forcing almost every customer to book via Europe or on direct flights with Air India from Toronto and Vancouver or Air Canada from Toronto and Montreal. The lack of options right now and for the foreseeable future is getting people to make an early decision to book their India flights for the fall and winter today!
With bookings ramping up for the fall, many customers are asking what is the right airline to take with uncertainty around the pandemic, the worldwide political situation and the airline industry in general.
A change of ownership of Air India from a state-controlled enterprise moving to the private sector, along with the freedom they have to fly routes using Russian airspace has greatly increased the confidence in this airline. The significant benefit of flying over Russia has allowed Air India to continue to operate a direct flight from Vancouver, and continue to operate the same service from Toronto both offering 2 free checked-in bags. This significant advantage is allowing Air India to secure the greatest number of passengers for Canada to India flights this fall. In addition to providing convenient service, fares are relatively good allowing customers to secure their cheap India flights.
Customers looking to depart from Toronto and secure a cheap flight to India are flocking to the Air India service as compared to the Air Canada flight which is much more expensive. This fall you can purchase the Air India direct service from Toronto to New Delhi for $2,029 while buying the same route on Air Canada will cost $3,300. This massive difference is moving much of the business from Air Canada to Air India. In addition, for the first time this year, the lowest-cost airline during this period is Emirates where tickets are available for $1,830. Normally this Middle East carrier keeps its prices at a premium over the competition so if you are a fan of their high level of service, this would be a great time to buy a cheap flight to India on this carrier.
For passengers leaving Vancouver who are flying to India, there are fewer options, especially on direct flights because Air Canada is being forced to stop in Dublin due to airspace constraints. The lack of competition from Vancouver to Delhi is allowing Air India to charge higher fares from Vancouver than they are out of Toronto. Right now, the price you can secure on their direct flight is $2,240. While many customers are purchasing tickets on Air India, many are looking for cheap options especially if they are travelling in small groups. Unfortunately, due to the huge demand, the only airline that was offering better prices has already sold most of the lower-priced seats. British Airways, which did have prices closer to $1,700 in the past few weeks has already increased the price of their India tickets to $2,100. Even carriers like Singapore Airlines who are only just returning to Canada are charging huge premiums on their India flights with prices as high as $3,400.
Overall as we inch closer to the peak travel season for Canada to India flights the airlines have decided that due to capacity restrictions, and their increasing cost structure, they will be charging more for flights. Passengers who have already booked may have found that they have secured the best prices of the year, and have their cheap India flight for the fall. Customers who continue to wait may watch prices rise even further as the demand for India trips is significant even at these higher prices. With so many people wanting to travel for family, school or work reasons, and just to get out of the cold Canadian Winter, it seems more likely that those who wait to book might have to pay a large amount to travel or once again, or delay their plans to return India for the time being.
