Passengers buying cheap flights to India are looking for deals as we are well into the fall season. Once again, most clients are purchasing India flight tickets on Air India as they are operating a direct flight from both Toronto and Vancouver to New Delhi and are allowing two free checked bags. The popularity of the Air India flight is pushing up their price as a significant portion of their seats have been booked. The high prices for the Air India direct service are allowing other carriers to take some of the business to India this year.
The KLM, Air France, and Delta group has seen a large jump in bookings over the past week due to their aggressive pricing. With this group of carriers, many customers are finding cheap India flights by booking on KLM via Amsterdam in one direction and then flying on Air France via Paris in the other. In addition, the SkyTeam alliance is still allowing two free checked bags to India which some of their competition is not. The primary loser in this scenario is the Lufthansa / Air Canada alliance which is continuing to charge high fares and only allowing one free checked bag to India.
Another carrier that is showing signs of growing out of the Vancouver market is Cathay Pacific. Previous to COVID, Hong Kong’s prime carrier was one of the strongest in the India market. As the company rebuilds with COVID restrictions starting to relax they are also attracting a large number of bookings over the past week. As some customers are unsure of travelling via Asia, they are being quite aggressive with their pricing with cheap flights to India.
Customers flying from Toronto to India this winter have many options but many are still looking for direct flights if they are within their budget. Air Canada has dropped their price to allow them to compete better with Air India but fares are still around $2600 for their direct service this winter. The best fare in the market right now is with United Airlines through the U.S. with tickets to India starting from $1780.
For many travellers going through America is not an option, but for those who can use this route, it should save you a significant sum of money.
Passengers departing from Vancouver to India have various options to fly, but many are sticking with the Air India direct service even though the price is quite high. For flights, this winter from Vancouver to Delhi an air ticket will cost around $3120.
As many customers are looking for a better deal there is a flight via Chicago with United Airlines that starts from $2040. Another factor that is playing strongly in the market for Vancouver to India flights is the options from Seattle. Many customers are asking for these possibilities and quite a few have now decided it makes more sense to drive to Seattle and depart from there rather than paying more out of Vancouver. Fares are available from Seattle to Delhi this winter from $1677 which is a significant discount from the Vancouver market.
Overall customers who cannot afford the direct flights with Air India and Air Canada are being creative in how they can save money on their flights to India this winter. Some are opting to travel via the United States while others are departing directly from Seattle. This proves that the customer will find a way to secure a cheap India flight as long as there is any chance of finding one.
