Flights prices have stabilized in the past few weeks with travellers able to take cheap direct one-way fights from Canada to India. In addition, the quarantine rules have been relaxed somewhat in India as you can now self-quarantine at your final destination if you have a negative COVID certificate. The certificates are available in Canada at specific testing facilities for a cost of around $200. Receiving a negative COVID certificate is well worth the cost as if you have to quarantine in India without a negative COVID certificate you will need to stay in a government supplied hotel at your own cost. The cheaper and more comfortable option is to get the negative COVID certificate.
Also, we are finding that the Indian consulate in Canada is providing emergency visa’s for people with a valid reason to travel. While general tourism is not a permitted reason for receiving an emergency visa a sick family member or an important business transaction could allow you to enter the country. In addition, any OCI (Overseas Citizenship of India) holder can travel to India without a visa but they need to still follow all quarantine rules and regulations. Because more people are able to travel to India from Canada due to the travel bubbles there are more bookings for the fall festival season.
For cheap India flights from Toronto, British Airways is definitely your best bet. In the fall flights from Toronto to Delhi tickets are as low as $979 including two pieces of checked baggage. British Airways returned to Toronto over the summer as they have shown a strong commitment to that city and to India. Of course, they are also offering cheap flights to all the cities they fly to in India. If you are looking to get on one of the direct flights sooner rather than later you can fly on Air India for $949 including all taxes or on the Air Canada direct flight from Toronto to Delhi from $1219. Or if you want to get on a return one-way flight from Delhi to Toronto you are looking at a price of around $1349 on Air India. Flights on Air Canada are much busier as passengers stuck in India are looking to use their existing Air Canada tickets to return home, but you can find prices as low as $1529 if you are willing to pay a little more.
Out of Vancouver, British Airways is also your go to airline this fall for the cheapest price to India. Under normal circumstances the Chinese carriers would be very competitive for the fall and winter flights to India and New Delhi specifically, but due to the COVID situation they have a very limited schedule and pricing is quite high. On British Airways through London you can find round trip fares from Vancouver to Delhi starting from $1089 with two pieces of baggage. These are the cheapest fares to India on British Airways that have been available in years. You can be assured of safety and cleanliness all for a great price. If you are still looking to travel very soon on one of the direct flights you can get on the Air India flight for $999 or the Air Canada direct flight to Delhi from $1079. If you are looking to travel from India to Vancouver on one of the direct flights, it will cost $1599 on Air Canada or only $949 on Air India.
While there is a strong expectation that travel to India will be much lower than years past for those who need or want to go there are still options to do it. Those who do travel will be happy to find that pricing will be better than it has been in a long time. In addition, airlines and airports now have good strategies in place to prevent the spread of COVD so it might be a good year to take advantage of cheap India flights.
