End of Air Canada Strike Mean Cheap India Flights!

For those looking to buy a cheap flight to India, most people have been extremely concerned about Air Canada’s operations due to a strike by the flight attendants’ union.  While this strike is having a massive impact on travellers all over Canada, most people who are going to India are in luck.

There are two major reasons why Air Canada’s strike is not having a major impact on Canada-India flights.  First, August is not a high travel season for Canadians to go to India.  With Canada’s mild summers and Indian’s summers extremely hot, many people do not want to travel to India during this period.  The other major reason that India traffic has not been severely impacted is that there is serious competition on routes from Canada to India, which is great for those looking to buy cheap India flights!

With so many airlines departing from Toronto and connecting to India, the passengers who were on Air Canada have plenty of options they can use to get to India.  Those who travel domestically do not have the same opportunities and are struggling to find alternatives.  From Vancouver, with Air India taking most of the traffic, travellers have not been significantly impacted for India flights.  For those travelling to other places, specifically Europe, they are the ones who are finding it extremely difficult to rebook with other carriers.

In other news, Air India has decided to cancel its direct flights from Washington to Delhi.  While many were surprised by this move, as Air India continues to have issues keeping all their aircraft operational, it is welcome news for those flying from Canada, as this route cancellation will allow Air India to keep focus on their Toronto and Vancouver routes to ensure that they have enough planes to keep these routes going to their full capacity.  In a roundabout way, the fact that Air India has cancelled Washington – Delhi reiterates its commitment to its routes from Canada to India.

Passengers who are departing from Toronto to Delhi who want to secure a cheap flight to India have a new option that is leading the way.  Virgin Atlantic, which recently started from Toronto to London, now has a fare from Toronto to Delhi for only $1389!  This fare is by far the lowest available from Toronto to Delhi!  If you want to purchase a flight on Air India’s direct service on the same date, it will set you back $1999, which is a huge difference, so it probably makes sense to switch planes in London and save a ton of money!

For customers departing from Vancouver to India, the cheapest flight to India is with Air Canada and United Airlines via New York and Montreal.  This flight is available for only $1279!  This is the cheapest price we have seen in quite some time, especially for fall departures!

The big news this week is the strike that has started at Air Canada.  While it is not impacting India flights significantly, it has had some impact.  As August is already halfway done, the India booking season continues to increase with the main travel season only a few weeks away.  If you are planning to book a cheap flight to India, now is the time to take action!
