India to China Direct Flights Delayed to 2026

For those who have been waiting to book a cheap flight to India this year, many have been hoping for a return of the mainland Chinese carriers.  These carriers being Air China, China Eastern and China Southern all provided rock-bottom airfares from Canada to India prior to the COVID pandemic.  In the past month India and China had announced that services between these two countries would be able to resume.

With many customers remembering those days of super cheap airfares from Canada to India they have been reluctant to book their Canada to India flight this year.  For those that have been waiting for the news it is not great for 2025.  It has now been reported that due the bottlenecks in the agreement the most likely start date for these new flights will be in the Spring of 2026.  Overall, the news is till good, but the timing won’t be right for those looking to go to India this year or early next year which is the peak travel season with the weather being much better in India than in Canda.

While this season will most likely no have flights at the pre-covid levels, things seem to be on track for next year to have much cheap Canada to India flights available!  Luckily passengers do not have to depend on these flights via China with plenty of options via Europe and Air India direct service as potential options.

These cheap India flight options will not drop to the level that mainland Chinese carriers had, but even on their return we do not expect prices to come down the level of $1000 that were available on a regular basis in previous years.

For any customers departing from Toronto to Delhi this year are continuing to find that Ethiopian Airlines are the cheapest flight to India.  With so many options to fly from Toronto to India Ethiopian has decided that their best option to compete with the established players is to offer a cheap India flight with prices starting from $1409.  While Ethiopian offering a low price, the fact that their schedule and flight times are on the longer side forces them to drop prices.  The most popular option for customers travelling from Toronto to India this week has been Etihad Airways with under $2000 and a great combination of service and schedule many customers have been securing this cheap flight to India!

For passengers departing from Vancouver to India, prices are starting to rise but there are cheap flight to India available.  Right now the lowest price option in the market is via New York with United Airline, but it includes two stops in both directions to get the best price.  You can find this option for only $1599!   Now with Air India having to stop on Calcutta, they are also offering great fares.  You can fly with the Air India for only $1940!

While customers continue to wait for the ultra-cheap fares from Canada to India previously provided by the mainland Chinese carriers, most have decided now is the time to book as those flights will not be returning until the Spring of 2026.  If you are looking to secure a cheap flight to India, now is the right time to lock it in the best price!
