Our Government Has Dropped Extra Security Measures for India

The news this week for Canada to India travel did not start out in the best place.  The federal government of Canada had introduced new security measures that created havoc at all airports in Canada for those who were travelling to India.  The new measure increased the amount of time it was taking to get through security forcing travellers to arrive for their flight to Delhi at least four hours before departure.  The great news is whatever security issue the government was trying to prevent has now been dealt with.  Starting on Thursday the new security measures were removed and now customers going from Canada to India only have to deal with the regular security measures that any other traveller would face.

With the security measures back to normal customers no longer have to wait longer line ups and can now easily travel to India.

In addition to this news on India specifically, customers who are travelling via London are getting ready for new measures that the United Kingdom has introduced.  Starting in January all Canadians travelling to the United Kingdom or transferring there must obtain an electronic visa before departure.  While the cost of the visa is low it is adding cost and reducing convenience for travel via London.  Both Air Canada and British Airways will be impacted by this decision as even if you are not leaving the airport and are only connecting to your flight to Delhi or anywhere else in India you will need to secure your ETA document.

Customers looking to buy a cheap flight to India are gearing up as this week is Black Friday!  Many passengers buying a flight from Toronto to Delhi or Vancouver to Delhi have been waiting to see if any of the airlines will provide a seat sale to India this week.  With Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Travel Tuesday all providing opportunities for airlines to drop their prices customers are eagerly awaiting the news.  In previous years Canada to India flights have not seen much movement on these special dates, but this year we are expecting to lower prices as passengers flying to India want to get lower prices.  Most likely not all airlines will participate, but there is a great chance that cheap India flights will be available this week.

Passengers from Toronto looking to buy a cheap flight to India are now looking at the Spring of 2025 in order to save money.  Once again KLM and Virgin Atlantic have combined to drop their price and now you can buy a return flight from Toronto to Delhi for only $1525, this is the lowest fare we have been in years!  While early Spring is not the ideal time for India flights, the price can’t be beat!  For example, if you want to purchase a ticket on the Air India direct flight on the same dates, it will cost almost $2130 which is almost 25% higher than what KLM and Virgin Atlantic are offering.  Air Canada’s direct flight option from Toronto to Delhi is competitive during this time frame with flights available for only $1730.

Anyone departing from Vancouver to Delhi who is hoping to find a cheap India ticket is in luck.  Lufthansa continues to be very competitive on Winter departures.  While only offering 1 free checked bag is a drawback of these tickets, the fact that they are available for only $1710 is a cheap India flight for Winter departures.  If you want to fly on the Air India direct flight from Vancouver to Delhi it will cost almost $1000 more with the price starting at $2677.  With the savings by stopping in Europe with Lufthansa, you can easily cover the cost of an extra bag if you need it!

The start of last week brought some negative news for those travelling from Canada to India, but luckily, the Federal government quickly reversed course, and now things are back to normal. In addition, it is Black Friday week in North America, which should bring lower fares and cheap India flights for you!
