Peak Season for India Travel Is Here!

If you are looking to find a cheap India flight in the next few weeks or months, we are in the peak season for booking and travelling right now.  Customers are flying to India for the festival season and they are also booking trips to be away during the harsh Canadian winter so they can be in India for the warm weather.  Customers flying to India are finding a wide variety of flight options with Air India having a significant share of the market and several different carriers all sharing the rest of the business.  With quite a few options to fly to India this year many airlines are taking a piece of this lucrative market which means cheap India flights for you.

One change that was made in the last few weeks is that Air Canada has decided to stop their direct flight from Vancouver.

While this was not completely unexpected it still had a significant impact on those travellers who had purchased a ticket on that flight expecting it to continue.  While the flight has been very successful over the past years, the loss of Russian airspace to Air Canada proved to be too much of a cost for the airline to bear.  The loss of the Air Canada direct service will be felt by many in Western Canada, but Vancouver continues to have the Air India direct flight, but now that they will no longer have competition for the direct service you can expect prices to rise.

With Air Canada no longer offering direct service from Vancouver other carriers have started to pick up the slack.  More customers are asking about Turkish Airlines as their high level of service combined with low prices to New Delhi is allowing them to gain share at the expense of the other large European carriers like British Airways, Lufthansa, Air France and KLM.  Overall, as new carriers are entering the market, we expect prices to go down giving customers more opportunities to secure a cheap India flight.

For a customer looking for the best fares from Toronto to Delhi, it looks like United Airlines is becoming more aggressive with winter fares starting from $1760 travelling through New York and Chicago.

While many Indian passport holders are unable to travel this route unless they have a U.S. visa, this is a great option for Canadian citizens.  For passengers leaving from Toronto who only want to use a direct flight Air Canada is priced lower than Air India at the moment for only $2600.  While this is significantly more than an option via the states, it still makes sense for a lot of people who want the best price on their India tickets.

Customers travelling from Vancouver to India this winter can expect higher prices on the direct flight on Air India now that Air Canada has decided to cancel their service.  Those who had already purchased a ticket a few weeks back probably got a better price than Air India is offering now with a flight going for $3100.  With prices so high on the direct flight, many customers are looking to buy tickets on service with a stop to save money.  Right now, United Airlines via Chicago is offering the lowest in the market at $2031.  As demand remains strong out of Vancouver, we expect prices to rise, but hopefully not by much allowing more people to find a cheap flight to India.
