As we look back on a very busy Canada to India flight booking season the vast majority of travellers who went from Canada to India have now returned home.  While most were able to stay on schedule and come back in early April some were forced to change their dates and got stuck returning with the student traffic which ended up creating a large cost and potentially hurting their ability to get a cheap flight to India.  Now that we are in the Spring most are focused on having fun and enjoying the summer weather.  In addition, many have families and friends visiting from India to come here and see the sites, but some are already planning their next trip to Delhi and are already buying tickets for the fall and winter to secure a cheap flight to India.

For passengers ready to book for the fall from Toronto to New Delhi we are seeing most asking about the Air Canada direct flight.  While this flight is very popular with Canadians who are travelling to India, it is also very expensive.  For example, this September the Air Canada direct flight to India on the 787 Dreamliner will set you back $2600, but if you take the Air India service which provides 2 checked bags instead of 1, the cost is only $1900.  This proves that there is a substantial difference between these two airlines where Air Canada can charge such a premium for similar services, but with major differences in their product.  The Air India price is the lowest it has been in quite some time and it shows that if you are willing to lock in your India flight today there is substantial savings to be had and that is the best way to get a cheap India flight.

Customers who are departing from Vancouver to New Delhi and who are ready to book today for the fall or winter are finding less selection than customers from Toronto.  The lack of options normally means it is more difficult to get a cheap India flight.

While there is always an expectation that Toronto will have more selection as they have a larger customer base, right now Air India is the only direct service that we expect to have this year.  Passengers who buy a ticket today for the fall can find prices as low as $1900, with a return before the peak festival season.   The one interesting item in the Vancouver market right now is that Air India has the lowest price available.  That is something we have never seen before, but with so much demand from other parts of the world filling up their local flights to India the direct flight is the cheapest flight to India from Vancouver.

It looks like demand may strip supply again for flights to India this year.  With so many people looking to travel to India and beyond flight, it is proving difficult to purchase a cheap flight to India.  With the population in India now the largest on the planet and their economy continuing to grow the pace of seat capacity in the region has not been able to keep up.  While we all hoping for cheap flights to India to return to the levels we saw in 2019, it looks like those days will not come again.  Customers need to understand this new normal and plan to secure a cheap flight to India.  As we are seeing a change in booking patterns this year with many India tickets purchased as much as 8 months before their departure.  These timelines were unheard of in years past.  With airlines now having the upper hand on pricing, it makes sense to book early and secure a cheap flight to India.
