Waiting Too See Canada to India Prices Drop!

Travellers from Canada who have not purchased a ticket to India yet are mostly taking the wait-and-see approach right now.  As many are hoping prices will drop so they find a cheap flight to India.  With fuel prices dropping and potential demand pressures rising we could finally see some last-minute sales as airlines hope to fill their Winter flights.  As we have started to see the number of bookings slowly start to decline as we head into the Christmas season, we are still receiving many calls from customers hoping to find a last-minute seat sale to India for early 2023.  Now that we are also seeing increased capacity for airlines from Asia there is a chance that many airlines will have no choice but to reduce India ticket prices which will mean cheap India flights for you.

In news on India flights Air India has decided to merge with Vistara airlines.  The ownership of both Air India and Vistara has recently been headed by the TATA group and Singapore airlines.  The two independent organizations now have planned a merger to take place in 2024, the combined company of Air India and Vistara will create a new domestic and intentional powerhouse for Indian travel.  While there is a significant amount of work to do behind the scenes and large service improvements necessary on the Air India side, this should allow greater investment in the organization which should create a better airline with higher service standards.

Overall, the merged airline should be a positive for flights domestically within India and internationally, but it could also lead to higher prices especially on the domestic routes as there will be less competition.  It could also lead to lower prices on Canada to India routes as the new company may have more resources to put behind the lucrative flights between our two countries.

Hopefully, this will lead to lower ticket prices from Canada to India and a new way to get cheap flights to India.

Passengers departing from Toronto to Delhi this winter are continuing to book the direct flights on Air India in the vast majority of cases.  Many are not happy about paying high fares Air India continues to take a significant amount of business.  Right now, fares on the Air India direct flight are available from $3100.  One piece of great news on the Canada to India route is American Airlines has added direct service from Toronto to JFK.  These services now allow connections from Toronto to the direct service on American Airlines from New York.  In addition, this is also the lowest prices flight in the market from only $2250 including all taxes which is a great option to find a cheap flight to India.

Out of Vancouver customers are facing higher prices to India than out of Toronto due to the lack of competition with Air India.  As they are the only direct service from Vancouver, they can charge a high fare that many are paying.  This winter flying on Air India will cost around $3250 which is gone up over the last few weeks.  In addition, the cheapest flight to India right now is with United Airlines through the United States which is still close to $2600 and stops multiple times.

Overall prices remain high from Vancouver but as new capacity is added that will hopefully change which will allow more people to get a cheap flight to India from Vancouver.

As we head into the slow part of the booking season with many focused on celebrating with friends and family, we might see prices come down.  Recent events of higher interest rates and low gas prices may force airlines to reduce their ticket prices which would mean lower ticket prices for 2023, but if demand remains strong the airlines will keep prices high as long as they possibly can.
