Winter Departures to India Are Only A Few Weeks Away!

Are you looking to buy a cheap India flight this Winter?  With only 1 month to go until the new season arrives, many customers are looking to book their flights over the next few weeks.  With demand sky-high for Canada to India flight tickets, many customers booked their January flights to Delhi in October.  The result of so many October bookings is a lack of seats available for January and February departures.  The result is that we have seen fewer bookings this November as customers are hoping to find a lower-priced tickets in the New Year.

As we inch closer to Winter departures many passengers are waiting to see if flight prices will drop, especially on the very popular Air India direct flight from Vancouver to Delhi.  Right now, Air India continues to hold back inventory on March and April returns as these flights have been extremely popular over the last few years especially with students coming to Canada to study.  With recent changes to government policy, we expect fewer students to arrive from India this year which means that India’s national carrier may be forced to open inventory in order to stimulate the market from Canada whose passengers are looking to book those same flights to return to Canada this Spring.  With time running out decisions will most likely be made in the next few weeks on Air India’s ability to open returns for passengers departing Canada and coming back in March and April.

In other news, relations between China and India continue to thaw, increasing the possibility of direct flights between these two nations. In 2019, these direct flights carried a significant number of passengers from Canada to India on China’s 3 main carriers. If direct flights are allowed, it will greatly reduce prices on the Canada to India flights, but this will not impact passengers travelling in the next six months.

Passengers departing from Toronto to Delhi this next year are finding the cheapest flight on the newest combination available which is with KLM and Virgin Atlantic.  This route allows you to fly via Amsterdam on the outbound and then fly via London on your return.  With Virgin Atlantic now flying direct to Toronto this will only increase the KLM, Air France and Virgin Atlantic partnership to new heights.  Fares are available from Toronto for only $1700!  If you want to buy the direct flight on Air India you can find a price for only $2100 on late Winter departures.

For passengers departing from Vancouver to India the Lufthansa option via Munich this Winter is flights are available for $1700.  With Lufthansa deciding that now is the time to start competing on the India route they are finally offering cheap flights to India.  If you want to purchase the Air India direct flight, it is available for $2500 which is a significantly higher price you will find on competing airlines but customers continue to purchase on this popular route.

Overall, we are seeing customers taking the wait-and-see approach on their India flights over the past few weeks.  With airfares on the higher side this Winter we expect prices to drop as there is a large group of customers who are unwilling to pay the higher fares on Air India.  With time running out now is the time to book your cheap flight to India!
