Goa, can be described as the land of beaches. It is the smallest state in India, but is the largest tourist destination of the country. Goa is normally at the top of a list of best places to visit in India! Located on the west coast of India, Goa boasts pristine beaches, markets, parties and natural beauty. Goa became part of the hippie trail during the ’70s, however over the years though, Goa has become more hip than hippie. You will find a blend of Portuguese and Indian influences, which makes Goa a place where you will find much more than just beaches and parties! Other attractions include:
- Ajuna Beach: Just ahead of the Calangute -Baga stretch of north Goa lies Ajuna Beach. This beach is known for it’s beautiful sunsets, great food, pleasant crowds and music and a culture that has seen an interesting transition over the past few decades.
- Madgaon: is the oldest and the second largest city in Goa and is approximately 33 km south of Panjim. Madgaon or Margao is a major commercial hub of Goa, as well as a religious center.
- Mormugao Fort: is an ancient but well-preserved fortification, and a represents the Portuguese rule over Goa. It is located near the scenic Varca Beach, and boasts of five prisons, a chapel and 20 bulwarks, along with soldier quarters. Mormugao was one of the most important Goan coastal forts.
