Huge Spike in India Bookings from Canada!

We have seen a massive spike in bookings to India in the past week as customers flow to cheap flights provided by Air India.  As schools have re-opened already many people decided to book a flight to India and many who waited got lucky.  Air India had a major fare reduction in September and October departures because they had unfilled seats.  While airlines have been doing everything in their power to convince the public that fares would remain high from Canada to India this year things have certainly changed in the last few days.  The reduction in prices has created a massive flow of bookings as those who had not booked are now able to secure a cheap flight to India.

Vancouver had the most to gain because their flight prices have been so high for so long and Air India finally gave in and allowed customers from the West Coast of Canada to fly direct for a reasonable price.  As traffic continued to flow south to Seattle, Air India was feeling the pinch of reduced bookings and in the end, they were forced to lower India flight prices which is excellent news for those who waiting to buy a cheap flight to India.

While last-minute tickets from Vancouver have gone down in price those for the winter of 2024 remain very high, but we expect that change soon instead of at the last minute for Air India to prevent more people from travelling to Seattle to get to Delhi.

Toronto passengers also saw a price reduction but not to the level of those travelling from Vancouver.

As passengers departing from Toronto have plenty of competition, they did not have the same level of pricing that we had in Vancouver this fall.  While Toronto has significantly more airlines coming into the city, they also have a more significant number of students and population in general which means overall the market is more balanced, but Air India’s decision to provide a last-minute reduction in price for those living in the next two weeks generated a buzz in the market as people booked their last-minute cheap flights to India.

In other India flight news, the German carrier Lufthansa has decided to bring back its A380 on the Delhi route.  As lack of capacity has been a major issue created high prices the re-introduction of the world’s largest aircraft on this route is great news.  The added capacity which will be available from Canada on Lufthansa and Air Canada flights should help reduce prices.  The large aircraft usually required lower pricing to keep it full which should be cheap India flights when the A380 goes back into service next summer.

For departures from Toronto to Delhi those looking for cheap flights Air India is once again the cheapest in the market.  As Air India has been forced to reduce prices due to low demand in the last few weeks last minute flights to Delhi are available from $1922.  Air Canada’s direct flight to India is proving to be a more popular option as their flight will cost close to $2500 in the next few weeks.

The market in Vancouver has spoken and the fact that the community was unwilling to pay such a high cost for flights to India has meant that Air India had to lower the price of the direct flight to India.
