January India Travel Booking Season Has Arrived!

As we are fully into 2024 Canada to India flight bookings are at their strongest point of the past 6 months.  With cheap India flights available and pent-up demand due to the visa issues of 2023, we have seen a massive jump in bookings from both Vancouver and Toronto.  January is normally the busiest time of the year for India bookings and with the issues that occurred last year, we expect this January to be extremely busy for India bookings.  In addition, now that winter has fully hit Canada with cold temperatures and stormy weather those who had decided to pass on a trip to India from Canada this year are quickly changing their mind.  Many people who normally would spend most of the Canadian winter in India may have been missing out on travelling in the past few years due to numerous issues such as COVID and extremely high prices are deciding that if they don’t go now, they may not get a chance again.  So, while prices are not as low as they were in 2019, there are lots of cheap India flights to be found.

One change that we are seeing with so many inquiries and bookings for flights to India from Canada is that prices are moving up again.

In late December we were finally seeing some cheap flights to India especially on the Air France, KLM group but those prices are no longer available.  As the airlines have quickly understood that there is enough traffic, they can once again raise prices for the rest of the winter.  One issue that remains a driver of higher prices is the fact that April flights from India to Canada when many are returning are competing with students for seats as they continue to arrive in Canada in huge driving up costs.

Another change that has occurred this month is now prices from Toronto are once again cheaper than from Vancouver.  There were about three weeks when Vancouver had finally had cheap India flights than Toronto but that is no longer the case.

Right now, you can find a cheap India flight from Toronto to Delhi for only $1740 on Air France.  If you are looking at a direct flight Air India is also offering a great price at only $2290 which is a significant drop from last week.  Air Canada’s price on their direct service from Toronto to Delhi is pricing at $2460 which means it is substantially higher even though they are offering only 1 bag, this clearly shows that Air Canada’s service continues to outperform Air India’s.

Customers departing from Vancouver to India are facing much higher prices than Toronto but still have some cheap India flights available.  Currently, KLM/Air France is the cheapest option from Vancouver to New Delhi with prices from $1850.  Air India’s direct flight is currently on offer for $2440 on the same dates which is a significant spread, but when there is only 1 passenger most are opting for the convenience of getting to India quickly rather than saving money, on their cheap flight to India.

We have seen a big bounce in India bookings in the past week as passengers quickly purchase their India tickets to get out of the cold Canadian winter.  With cheap India flights still available on certain dates this is your last chance to escape the cold before the Spring arrives in Canada.  While prices have gone up over the last two weeks we strongly expect them to continue to rise, so if you planning a last-minute trip from Canada to India it may be your last chance to secure a cheap flight to India!
