Travel from Canada to India is Still Available!

Are you looking for the latest update on flights to India from Canada?  You have come to the right place, here we try to keep you updated on the latest news for anyone travelling from Canada to India.  Unfortunately, in the past few weeks, the news for customers going to India has not been great as the Indian government has decided to suspend applications for new visas.  While this sounds like no one can travel to India, this is not the case.

There is a long list of people who can continue to travel to India from Canada.  Any Indian citizen who is in Canada can continue to travel on an Indian passport, in addition, Canadians who have an OCI card and those who had already received an e-visa before the suspension can continue to travel.

Finally, applications for OCI’s have not been stopped, while they do take a long time to process if you are not departing for a few months this is a great option to allow continued travel to India!

We are hopeful that the suspension of regular visas will not last too long as Canada and India have strong ties in their communities and plenty of business relationships.  Many travellers have booked cheap India flights for the festive season and are looking to visit friends and family to attend weddings and other important milestones.  As we are closely approaching the prime travel season for India hopefully the suspension will be lifted quickly.

For customers who have their visas sorted already and have not purchased a ticket to India yet, there are some great cheap flights to India if you are leaving in the next few weeks.  If you are departing from Toronto to Delhi there are cheap India tickets available from $1969 travelling on Air Canada via Montreal on the outbound and Lufthansa via Munich on your return.  As most India travellers prefer to fly on the direct flights, Air Canada is cheaper than Air India for last-minute pricing, but it is still $2500 which is a considerable amount compared to a flight that stops. Overall, there are some great last-minute options for a cheap flight to India from Toronto.

Customers flying from Vancouver to India looking for a cheap India flight are still sticking with Air India in most cases, but Air Canada has now lowered some of their pricing for flights via Montreal to compete.

Right now, last-minute cheap India flights are available for only $1900 on Air Canada and Lufthansa.  With Air India always competing heavily doing their best to get every passenger, you can find a cheap flight to India on their direct service on similar last-minute dates for only $2200.

Overall, the news has not been great in the last few weeks for Canada to India travellers unless you already have your documentation ready to go for your trip to India.  Those who have an OCI card and Indian citizens but do not have a ticket for their India flight have benefitted from this diplomatic spat as prices for last-minute tickets have come down.  For most of the Indian diaspora in Canada, the news has not been good, but as time passes, we have to assume that relations will improve as this partnership is extremely important.
