Demand for India Travel Continues After Diwali

As we move past Diwali and the high season for travel between Canada and India, we expect to see some relief from high prices which will allow travellers to be able to find cheap flights to India.  The festival season in India is the most popular time to be in the country as family gatherings and events are abundant.  As we pass this part of the year, we expect to see a slowdown in demand for flight tickets, but not a substantial one.

With the weather in Canada starting to change, there will be a large number of people looking to get away from the cold and dark days to India where the weather is pleasant during the winter months.  As demand will remain relatively strong over the next few weeks, it will probably pick up again in November as people look to change climates for the winter of 2023.

For those looking to travel to India from Canada this year many, we are seeing strong demand from both Vancouver and Toronto.

While most clients are booking with Air India as they are providing great fares and good connections, others are still waiting to see if things may open up with other airlines.  For example, Cathay Pacific is loading up more flights as they look to regain their strong footing in Canada to India flight market.  We are also seeing many more customers booking far in advance as prices into the summer months are higher than they have been in recent years.  With the large number of students expected to arrive in Canada more are decided to lock in their cheap flight to India sooner rather than later.

For customers looking to buy a ticket from our travel agency in Mississauga which serves the Toronto and Brampton markets the flights on the direct service on Air India and Air Canada are proving to be less popular in the last few weeks as prices are very high.  Many customers are looking at different options with a stop in Europe such as Lufthansa and British Airways.  In addition, once again the lowest airfare from Toronto to Delhi right now is on United Airlines via New York.  The price on United Airlines for this option is only $1780, which is one of the lower prices we have seen in India this year.  As prices on the non-direct routes come down to compete with Air India and Air Canada it is allowing some to find those cheap prices to India everyone is hoping for.

Passengers departing from Vancouver are more likely to purchase their ticket on Air India than clients from Toronto as prices are somewhat better and there are fewer alternative options.  India-bound customers departing on the direct Air India service this January and returning in March will pay around $2850.  Those looking to save significant money do have options, especially using the United Airlines route through Chicago, with prices available at only $2050.  While this option does allow passengers to secure a cheap flight to India, most are still comfortable paying a little more to travel via Europe.

As the festival season in India is behind us the absolute peak demand for travel is over, but a huge number of bookings for future winter travel continues.  We continue to see large numbers of customer book travel from Canada to India every single day with all looking to find a cheap ticket to India.  With many customers looking to find any way to secure a cheap flight to India many are trying to avoid the direct flights on Air India as they are the most expensive, but they are still extremely popular due to the convenience of flying direct.  Those who do want to save money are looking at options stopping in Europe or the U.S as that is the route to save money this year.  Overall, those who want a cheap flight to India have no choice but to avoid the most convenient route.
